NPR is looking for interns! We are interested in students who want to gain experience in marketing research or in the media industry. We’re looking for someone with strong math, writing and communication skills. We’re looking for self-starters who own the responsibility of their projects. In other words, we treat you like an employee, not an intern. A brief description about the internship is provided below, or you can click the blue link if you want to learn about other internship opportunities at NPR.
Audience Insight and Research Internship: (Typically offered all three semesters)
Interested in first-hand exposure to media research and strategy? Consider an internship with our team, which acts as an internal research consultant to all NPR departments. Interns work closely with staff from across the organization to bring audience insights into the center of decision making. Tasks include analyzing listener habits and demographics, working with surveys, answering research requests from employees, and becoming familiar with databases like Arbitron and Nielsen. A keen ability to synthesize and present information (written and graphic) is important. Experience with survey work and research is a plus.
Other details:
· This internship is based in Washington, DC
· The Fall 2011 internship starts September 12, 2011 and ends December 23, 2011
· This is a paid internship ($10 per hour)
· We offer both part-time and full-time internships. We are looking for interns who can commit at least 15 hours a week.
Please contact Meredith Heard at mheard@npr.org with a copy of your resume and cover letter explaining why you think you’re a good fit for this internship. If you are interested in the Fall 2011 internship, please be sure to send a cover letter and resume by August 5. Otherwise, NPR’s research team accepts applications on a rolling basis throughout the year.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Meredith Heard
